Best Web Hosting Affiliate Programs (2026): Commissions, Cookies and Payouts

Posted Oct 13, 2026

The best web hosting affiliate program depends on how you get paid. For the largest one-off payment, Liquid Web advertises up to $1,500 a sale, DreamHost up to $1,000 a referral, and WP Engine at least $200 on most plans. For income that keeps coming, Kinsta pays 10% of a referred customer's bill for life and Cloudways offers a $30 + 7% lifetime option. For quick, steady payouts on volume, SiteGround pays weekly with no minimum. All terms below are as stated on each program's own page on 9 Oct 2026 (Liquid Web on 10 Oct).

This guide suits anyone with an audience: a blog, a channel, a newsletter or a client list. If you have clients rather than an audience, reselling usually earns more per person, and we compare the two models with numbers further down. A note on our own position: this site earns from some of the hosts it covers, and our affiliate disclosure lists how. Nothing below is ranked by what pays us.

Top hosting affiliate programs at a glance

The table keeps to programs whose terms we could read on the vendor's own page on 9-10 Oct 2026. "Not stated" means the page gives no figure, so we print none. Namecheap and GoDaddy are missing because their own pages state no commission rate or cookie length and send you to a network (Impact or CJ) for the terms. InMotion's page blocked our reads, and Flywheel's old affiliate page now leads to WP Engine's program. Third-party summaries of those programs exist, but they can't be confirmed, so they stay out.

Two patterns jump out. Managed WordPress hosts (WP Engine, Pressable, Kinsta, Rocket.net) pay more per sale and give longer cookies than shared hosts, because their customers spend more. Shared hosts (SiteGround, ChemiCloud, FastComet, GreenGeeks) use volume tiers, so a new affiliate starts on the bottom rung, typically $50 a sale, and climbs only with consistent monthly sales.

A cookie window is how long after a click the program still credits you for a purchase. Hosting is a considered buy, often researched over weeks, so the window matters more here than in impulse categories. WP Engine and Pressable both credit referrals for 180 days. ChemiCloud, Cloudways and Liquid Web give 90 days, while SiteGround, Kinsta and Rocket.net give 60. Hostinger and Bluehost give 30 days, the shortest among programs that state a figure.

Bar chart of affiliate cookie length in days: WP Engine 180, Pressable 180, ChemiCloud 90, Cloudways 90, Liquid Web 90, SiteGround 60, Kinsta 60, Rocket.net 60, Hostinger 30, Bluehost 30.
Cookie windows as stated on each program page, read 9-10 Oct 2026. HostGator, DreamHost, Hosting.com and FastComet state none.

WP Engine's terms also ban direct linking, meaning ads that point straight to its site rather than to your content, and allow only domains you own. Kinsta's attribution is last-touch, so a later click on someone else's link takes the sale. These details matter as much as the headline rate.

One-time CPA vs recurring: earnings per referral over 36 months

"Residual income" is the phrase people search for, but most hosting programs don't pay it. Of the programs in our table, only Kinsta (10% for life), Cloudways' Hybrid plan ($30 plus 7% for life) and DigitalOcean (10% for 12 months) pay a share of what the customer keeps spending. Everyone else pays once. A recurring rate only beats a one-off bounty when the referred customer spends enough, for long enough.

Here's that arithmetic with the published terms. A Cloudways customer on its $14-a-month Micro server (1 GB on DigitalOcean, per Cloudways' pricing page on 10 Oct 2026) earns you $30 plus 98 cents a month on Hybrid: $41.76 after a year and $65.28 after three. Cloudways' Slab plan pays up to $125 once, so for small servers the one-off is worth more. A DigitalOcean referral running a $24-a-month Droplet earns 10% for 12 months, $28.80 in total. Recurring commission only beats the one-off when the customer spends heavily, which is why it suits agencies and developers more than beginner blogs.

Grouped bar chart of earnings by month 12 and month 36. Reseller client at $15 a month on KnownHost Basic+: $168 and $504, before support time. WP Engine one-time minimum: $200 and $200. Cloudways Hybrid on a $14 customer: $42 and $65. SiteGround first tier: $50 and $50. DigitalOcean 10% of a $24 Droplet: $29 and $29.
Our math from program and plan terms read 9-10 Oct 2026. The reseller figure is gross margin before your support time.

Networks and how you get paid

Hosting programs run on different platforms, and the platform decides your dashboard, payout options and tax paperwork. On the pages we read, Bluehost, HostGator, Pressable and Liquid Web run through Impact. WP Engine uses Everflow, DreamHost uses TUNE and Hosting.com's sign-up links run through FirstPromoter. DigitalOcean names CJ in its text but links to Awin for sign-up. SiteGround, GreenGeeks and FastComet run their own in-house programs.

Payout timing differs more than most comparison posts admit. SiteGround pays weekly with no minimum. DreamHost holds commissions for 97 days. Hostinger may hold them for up to 180 days and wants three approved conversions before your first payout. ChemiCloud and Cloudways both set a $250 minimum for PayPal payouts. If you're starting with modest traffic, a high minimum can mean months before you see a payment, even when the rate looks generous.

Restrictions that get affiliates rejected or banned

Every program has terms that cost a commission or the account if you miss them. The ones that catch people most often:

  • No commission on renewals or monthly plans (Hostinger). Its agreement, revised 19 Aug 2026, pays only on a customer's first purchase of a 12-month-plus plan, with nothing for monthly plans, renewals or upgrades.
  • Brand bidding bans (Cloudways). You can't bid on Cloudways' brand or misspellings in paid search, and must add it as a negative keyword.
  • Direct linking and domain rules (WP Engine). No direct-link ads, owned domains only, and no commission on upgrades or add-ons.
  • Customer must stay (ChemiCloud, Rocket.net, Hosting.com). A referral that cancels inside 45 days at ChemiCloud or Hosting.com, or 60 days at Rocket.net, earns nothing.
  • Lower rates on some products (Hosting.com). Reseller, Windows and domain sales pay 20% rather than the 50% on hosting.

One more thing to know: third-party lists still quote Hostinger at a higher rate than its current terms. Its affiliate page says commission "starts at 40% and grows depending on sales volume", while its agreement says "up to 40%". The two pages disagree. The agreement is the contract, so plan on 40% at most.

Affiliate vs reseller: which earns more per client

If the people you'd refer are your own clients, compare the affiliate bounty with what reselling pays over the same period. Say you host 10 client sites on KnownHost's Basic+ reseller plan at $9.98 a month on its 3-year commitment, and charge each client $15 a month. Each client then leaves you about $14 a month: $168 in year one and $504 over three years. That's more than any one-off bounty in the table except the top tiers at DreamHost and Liquid Web.

The catch is that reseller money is gross margin, not income. You provision the accounts, send the invoices and answer the "my site is down" calls, and none of that is in the $504. An affiliate referral needs no support from you after the click. If you already have clients, start with a reseller plan from our best reseller hosting ranking, such as KnownHost's reseller tiers for the lowest cost per account, or ChemiCloud if you want billing software included. If you have an audience but no wish to do support, affiliate programs are the cleaner fit. The reseller vs affiliate comparison covers the day-to-day difference.

A bounty pays you once for a click. A reseller client pays you every month for being the person who answers. Price your time before you pick.

How to pick a program for your audience

Match the program to the reader, not just the rate. A beginner blog audience buys entry shared plans, so volume tiers (SiteGround, ChemiCloud, FastComet, GreenGeeks) and fast payouts matter more than a $500 ceiling you'll rarely reach. Developers and agencies buy managed WordPress and cloud servers, where WP Engine's $200 floor, Pressable's 180-day cookie or Kinsta's lifetime 10% earn far more per conversion. If your readers are deal-hunters who wait for Black Friday, a long cookie protects the click they make in October.

Then check the money mechanics: minimum payout, holding period and network fees. A program that pays $100 a sale but holds funds for months and needs $250 before payout can be slower cash than a $50 program that pays weekly.

Edge cases and honest limits

  • Buying for your own clients. Commission is meant for customers you refer, not accounts you buy and manage yourself. If you're buying hosting for clients, a reseller plan is the honest route.
  • Holds exist for refunds. Holding periods of 45 to 180 days give a host time to reverse commission on sales that are refunded or cancelled early.
  • Approval can lag the sale. Cloudways approves a sign-up commission only after the referred customer pays two full invoices, so a sale today may count in a later month.
  • Rates change. Hosting programs revise terms often. Hostinger's agreement was rewritten in August 2026, so recheck any figure here before you rely on it.

Our table reflects each vendor's own page on one date. A program's dashboard, or a manager offering custom terms, can differ from it, so treat the published figure as the floor of a negotiation, not the ceiling.

Hosting affiliate programs: FAQ

Which web hosting affiliate program pays the most?
Per sale, Liquid Web advertises up to $1,500 and DreamHost up to $1,000 a referral, while WP Engine pays at least $200 on most plans. Over time, Kinsta's 10% lifetime recurring commission can exceed them for a high-spending customer. Terms as listed on 9-10 Oct 2026.
Which hosting affiliate programs pay recurring commission?
Of the programs we checked on 9 Oct 2026, Kinsta pays 10% for life, Cloudways' Hybrid plan pays $30 plus 7% for life, and DigitalOcean pays 10% of spend for 12 months. Most others pay a one-time bounty.
How long are web hosting affiliate cookies?
From 30 to 180 days on the pages we read: WP Engine and Pressable 180, ChemiCloud, Cloudways and Liquid Web 90, SiteGround, Kinsta and Rocket.net 60, Hostinger and Bluehost 30. Several programs don't state one.
Does Hostinger pay affiliate commission on renewals?
No. Hostinger's affiliate agreement, revised 19 Aug 2026, pays only on a customer's first purchase of a 12-month-or-longer plan, with no commission on monthly plans, renewals or upgrades, and a $300 cap per sale.
Is reselling or affiliate marketing better for residual income?
Reselling, if you have clients and will do support. One client at $15 a month leaves about $504 over three years on a low-cost reseller plan, before your time. Affiliate income only recurs with programs like Kinsta's or Cloudways' Hybrid.
